unlocked cell phone
What is unlocked cell phone?
Usually, when we buy a cellphone, we will find that we are locked in to using that device on just one network or carrier. For example, when the iphone was released for the first time in America, it was only available on the AT&T network. This is convenient for the mobile phone manufacturers, as it ensures that generous revenue is consistently generated from one reliable source. However, for the handset user, its not such good news. As users found with the iphone, the designated carrier holds a technical monopoly, and can therefore pump up prices for using the device on the network. So, what can you do about this? Should we get unlocked cell phone, or is it too risky?
An unlocked cell phone is any cell phone that isn’t coded or ‘locked’ to only function with a certain plan or provider. Companies that make cell phones such as Motorola, Samsung, and Nokia merely make the actual phones; cell phone plan providers such as T-Mobile, Verizon, and AT&T are the ones who generally sell phones tied to their network.
